The Sunshine Blogger Award!

Thank you so much to Lau Family Travels for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! It truly means so much that you want to honour my blog in this way!

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

No, it is not an award given to people who just blog about Walt Disney World in the Sunshine State, which is what I thought when I first heard about it. The award goes to bloggers who are positive, creative, and inspiring; to those who spread a little bit of sunshine with their posts.

Questions from Lau Family Travels:

1. When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging exactly one year and one day ago. I started because I am a Disney snob. As much as I love talking about going on vacation to the Disney Parks, I wanted to have a blog that was different from just the tips and tricks of planning a vacation. I wanted to learn about the history of Walt Disney and the company he created and I wanted people to have a new appreciation for the Parks after reading my blog. Part of that is why I have a focus on animated films. Animation really is the core behind the Walt Disney Company and I wanted it to be the core behind my blog as well.

2. What would you do with 1 million dollars?

I would travel to every Disney Park in the world and try out the different hotels and resorts. And then I would blog about it for all of you! I would also love to be able to give to some of my favourite charities and causes.

3. What tools do you use the most for your blog?

My collection of Disney DVDs and three desk drawers full of Disney Parks maps, brochures, times guides, etc. I may have some sticky fingers when it comes to free Disney stuff.

4. If you could go on a vacation anywhere (all expenses paid) where would you choose?

See question #2! Though If I could only pick one place, that would probably be Tokyo Disneyland Resort and stay in one of the fancy character rooms at the Disneyland Hotel. Check those out if you don’t know what I am talking about and swoon!

5. What is your biggest struggle when it comes to blogging?

Time! Not nearly enough time in the week to write about everything I want to write about. I have a journal jam packed with blog post ideas which will take months to get through, and I keep thinking up more idea!

6. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I like to learn and I like to be creative and this allows me to do both on a subject that I am extremely interested in.

7. If you could pick a song to be the theme song of your life, what would it be?

I guess I should pick a Disney song, though it is really hard to just pick one! The songs “A Whole New World” and “Just around the Riverbend” resonate with me, but the line from “Belle”: “With a dreamy, far-off look. And her nose stuck in a book” describes me perfectly! (Obviously I like adventure and I love to read!)

8. What was your favourite vacation you’ve been on?

This one is really hard! I am fortunate enough to have been on many vacations. I would have to say any Disneyland trip, though I loved visiting Singapore! Oh and London. And New York. And San Francisco. And Vienna.

9. Where do you see your blog in the next 5 years?

Hopefully continuing to grow! I would love to compose some of my posts into an e-book or something but that sounds a bit of a feat!

10. What is your favourite social media site?

At the moment, it is probably Twitter. I am fairly new to Twitter but have really been enjoying it; I especially love creating Disney polls.

11. Tell us 3 random facts about yourself:
1. I have the sweetest rescue puppy named Echo Seven. We named her after Han Solo’s call sign in The Empire Strikes Back.
2. I drink a ridiculous amount of tea and hate coffee.
3. I am currently in the middle of about 10 different books, all different genres. I get too excited to start a book to wait until I finished a previous one so then I just end up rotating through a bunch of different books when I find the time to read.
